You can prevent unnecessary back injuries even without a brace. To reduce the amount of strain your back absorbs, always stand with your feet shoulder width apart and bend and lift from your knees instead of from your back. Centering heavy items prior to lifting them also helps to prevent strain.

Take over-the-counter pain medications first. A simple over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication can usually take the edge off most backaches. Follow the instructions on the label, and take it as directed when your back starts acting up. If it isn't enough, consider paying a visit to your doctor.

Make sure you're drinking enough water every day. With seventy percent of our bodies being water, it's important that we keep hydrated. Water can keep your body loose and fluid rather than stiff. Staying hydrated will also keep your intervertebral disks functioning as shock absorbers to take a lot of the pressure off the rest of the body.

Don't lift a box or container until you know its contents if you want to avoid hurting your back. If the contents of the box are heavy, you could really hurt yourself. Don't just look at the picture to determine the weight.

Indulge in cardiovascular activities often. Cardiovascular activities are a great help towards a healthier body, and give great conditioning to the joints and muscles, helping to prevent back pain. While there are other great exercises out there, cardiovascular workouts put much less strain on your back muscles, therefore offering an optimal exercise for those that experience back pain.

To prevent getting back pain, you need to make sure that you exercise on a regular basis. This will help increase and strengthen the muscles in your back. You just need to be careful that you are not lifting weights that are too heavy and that you are not doing anything else that could actually cause an injury.

Do not wear a shoe with a heel over one inch. If heels higher than this are worn, the wearer's center of gravity shifts. This causes back strain and pain. It can become chronic pain if high heels are worn often. If they must be worn, limiting the amount of time spent in them will help decrease the chance of pain and injury.

Buy a bag, purse or backpack with a long strap that can be worn on the opposite shoulder as the item. This allows the weight of the bag to be distributed more evenly across both sides of your body. It also helps keep the shoulders aligned, which helps keep your back from injury.

An inversion table is a great tool for helping people with back pain. It essentially turns you upside down and reverses the force of gravity, allowing the ideal shifting of your body, weight, and proportionate back. Therefore, it can go a long way in alleviating back pain symptoms and forcing correction.

If you suffer from chronic back pain and you know that you are going to be driving for a long period of time, be sure that you stop and stretch your legs. This also applies to those whose work requires them to sit for long periods of time. Too much sitting can cause back stiffness, and in turn, back pain.

Furthermore, back pain can be difficult to live with. When people who have back pain try to do normal activities, they are often met with excruciating pain. Back pain sufferers can ease their pain with the right methods, such as the ones found in the tips of this article. Use them to ease your back pain.
