When asked what defines her work, she replies: "the pleasure of capturing beauty-- beauty in each its facets.".
You've been working as a product photographer for quite some time now. What would you say are the most essential things you've learned?
"That it needs good organization, perseverance and an exact idea of the final photo. Knowing what Light Shaping Tool to use and ways to use them in such a way that creates the particulars in the product come alive is also crucial. But the most significant thing of all is, definitely, to enjoy and enjoy what you do. Then everything else will definitely come naturally.".
To enjoy and treasure what you do-- Mels shots of jewelery in natural setups are an end result of that strategy. Mel needed something tidy yet detailed that would definitely function in different scales and situations.
"I think that regardless of what product you're shooting, you have to take a closer look at what's unique about it. What are its unique selling points, as though? Regardless of what that is, that's just what you should concentrate on. "You should not just scatter light every which way. You will need to be subtle and in absolute management of the highlights" Product photography lighting options are plentiful at presents thanks to the freedom that digital cameras now provide. Auto white balance (AWB) is so fantastic on newest digital cameras that virtually any light source might be utilized.
Product photography using daylight gives you the advantage of utilize natural light from the start. This means your lighting is closely in tune with your cameras default settings. However daylight can be variable and short lived according to the period of time of year and your location. You can't control prevailing daylight but you can quickly learn the ways to harness and tweak it to suit your needs. A bright but overcast day could be ideal for a product photography shoot as this light will probably be even and consistent. Bright direct sun light can often be a nuisance but on occasion it can offer you just the appropriate atmosphere you're expecting. To take advantage of sunshine you would like to position and orientate your table top studio near an entrance or window so the lighting is appearing in from the ideal direction-- this direction will vary depending on your subject. Place one of the white backdrops on the far side of your table top studio to bounce light back on to your subject. Use a light diffusing and also reflection control enclosure.
We use two or three lights on a normal shoot and have fairly recently used these on a vintage jewellery shoot. They are very portable and robust. They're not daylight color temperature so if your AWB does not deal with it, you'll need to set custom white balance on your camera which is very straightforward.
